Programs & Services

Hickory Trail Hospital provides inpatient and day programs for children, adolescents, adults and senior adults. Our professional staff individualizes care to uniquely fit the intensity and severity of each client’s case and their family’s needs. If you are concerned about the well being of someone’s mental health, some signs for alarm are:

  • Violent behavior
  • Alcohol or drug abuse
  • Painkiller/opiate dependence
  • Depression
  • Self-mutilation
  • Suicidal thoughts
  • Hallucinations
  • Extreme emotional highs and lows
  • Overly sexualized behavior

Because crisis occurs at all times of the day and night, you can walk in 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for a no cost comprehensive assessment.

Our Focus

The focus of the inpatient psychiatric program is to resolve the crisis that resulted in hospitalization and to create a stable foundation that the patient can continue to develop long after discharge. Our diagnostic and treatment components include:

  • Psychiatric evaluation and diagnosis
  • Physical examination and laboratory data
  • Medications when indicated
  • Daily face-to-face meeting with a psychiatric medical staff
  • Social support
  • Cognitive behavioral skills
  • Psychoeducational classes
  • Recreational therapy groups including; sports, yoga, pet, music, art and horticulture
  • Therapy oriented groups including: AA and NA on site
  • Individual and family therapy, as needed
  • Discharge planning

The treatment team consists of the patient, family members, the physician, the therapist/social worker, nurses, and mental health professionals. Anyone on the treatment team can address questions regarding a patient’s individualized treatment plan. The primary group therapist serves as the patient’s case manager. The therapist coordinates the individual treatment plan with the assigned physician to ensure proper diagnosis and treatment. The therapist also coordinates therapy sessions, family therapy, and discharge appointments.
